520 _aDimensioning Commands Whenever the DIM command is invoked from the Command: prompt, a new prompt, Dim:, appears and a new set of commands becomes active. To return to the Command: prompt, issue the command EXIT or hit CtrI-C. If the system variable DIMASO is 1 (on) (the default), each dimension is created as a single blocktype entity that is associated with given drawing details. STRETCHing the details changes the dimension value. If the system variable DIMASO is 0 (off), dimensions are drawn as separate line, solid (or block), and text entities. All dimensioning text is drawn in the text style that was current when the DIMensioning command was invoked unless the STYLE command is used within DIM to change it. To invoke a dimensioning command, type in the first three letters of the command name, although the full name is also acceptable: ALIgned draws a linear dimension that is aligned parallel to the selected origin points. ANGular draws a dimension arc to show the angle between two nonparallel lines (Release 11) or three specified points. BASeline draws a linear dimension from the starting point of the previous dimension to the new location. This may be repeated as desired to draw a series of dimensions from the same base point. CENter draws a center mark in an arc or circle. The system variable DIMEN defines the size of the mark; if the value is negative, center lines are drawn.
