If you are familiar with AutoCAD, but you are new to Mechanical Desktop,
* Read Chapter 2, "Introduction to Mechanical Desktop."
* Go through the lessons in the Mechanical Desktop Tutorials manual.
* Refer to the Glossary on page 163 to get familiar with Mechanical Desktop terminology.
* As you use Mechanical Desktop, refer to Help for information on commands, procedures, and concepts. From the Help menu, choose Mechanical Desktop Help Topics.

Migrating Files from Previous Releases
In releases prior to Mechanical Desktop 2, part files could contain multiple parts. Starting with Mechanical Desktop 2, a part file is defined as a file that contains only one part, while an assembly file may contain multiple parts or subassemblies.
To migrate parts from a part file with more than one part, you need to follow specific procedures. For more information, see "Handling Legacy Data" in Help.
Starting Mechanical Desktop
You can start Mechanical Desktop by using one of the following procedures.
* On the taskbar, click Start, then choose Programs. Choose Mechanical
Desktop 3.
